We started off the year reflecting on the time, place, and people that started and grew this incredible grassroots organization, transforming it into a global community. As we’ve reflected and celebrated 40 years in the making, we’re looking forward. The next 40 years start now.
We are grateful for the incredible generosity of individuals that supported our goal to raise $40,000 in the month of June to kickoff the 40th Anniversary Fundraising Campaign. We surpassed our goal and immediately began work to build a new website, membership portal, and content library. By the time you are reading this, you will be able to see your investment in action firsthand. We asked for your support and you showed up.
But it doesn’t stop there. As we close out the year, we have one of the most ambitious fundraising goals in the history of the AAW. We are looking to raise an additional $185,000 to launch the organization boldly into it’s next phase of publication and partnership development, connecting members with the resources they need to succeed in the craft, membership recruitment, program offerings and enhancements, and chapter support. 40 years of the AAW has shown the durability of the organization; we’re asking you to invest in the next chapter.
This is where the power of participation and community lies. If every member gave $20 the AAW would easily surpass our ambitious goal. But don’t let size be a barrier; a gift of any size is a powerful thing. It would be an honor to share in the greater craft community that 100% of AAW members support the future of woodturning for everyone.
