Chapter Bulletin - May 19, 2017
Share |

Hello Chapter Officer:

The AAW appreciates your continued partnership and support as we deliver a shared educational mission with those interested in turning wood. This update is intended to keep you current on important Chapter-AAW initiatives.

The AAW is YOUR organization and I'd like to encourage you and other chapter officers to represent your chapter at the AAW 31st International Symposium in Kansas City, June 22-25, 2017. There is still time for you to register and qualify for the "early bird rate."  But even after that, the price of preregistration will still be less than the cost of onsite registration, plus you'll avoid the long lines. Register.

Annual Chapters Meeting
The Chapters meeting will be an opportunity for you to be involved in the AAW planning process for the next 12 months. In the past year, you've seen AAW introduce Video Source, EXPLORE!, the Discover Woodturning site, and the new Woodturning FUNdamentals online learning center. Now you'll have an opportunity to offer input, suggestions, and be part of the planning for the next series of initiatives designed to strengthen our partnership with chapters. Be there to discuss the needs of your chapter in an open forum. The meeting will be held in Kansas City on Saturday, June 24 from 9:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

In addition, we'll provide you with free materials that you'll be able to bring back to your chapter and use as marketing, fundraising, and prizes.
    • American Woodturner journals are a perfect giveaway for new club members who are not yet members of the AAW.
    • Woodturning Today: A Dramatic Revolution, a 256-page full color, softcover book, is an ideal reward, prize, or fundraising item.
    • AAW membership marketing materials for distribution to prospective members at community events and to chapter members who are not yet AAW members.
Symposium Volunteers Needed
If you plan to attend the Symposium, please consider contributing a few hours of your time as a volunteer. The success of every Symposium is due in part to the many individuals who volunteer before and during the event. You'll have fun supporting this vital effort! Please urge others to volunteer. Click here to learn more and to sign up!

Encourage Chapter Members to Attend
I ask that you to encourage your chapter's members to attend the Symposium. No other event offers as many opportunities to learn from the world's best. Led by internationally known woodturners, veteran instructors, and top woodturning talent, the demonstrations and panel discussions are appeal to a wide variety of skill levels and interest areas-bowls, boxes, vessels, hollow forms, spheres, spindle turning, multiaxis turning, segmented turning, natural edge turning, ornament, jewelry, finishing techniques, surface design, texture and embellishment, and more.

AAW Board Meet and Greet Table
