AAW Presents: From Penturning to Pen Making with Mark Dreyer and John Underhill

Saturday, February 19, 2022
3:00 p.m. Eastern Time

Join us for a mini-master’s program in pen making in less than two hours! Whether you’re new to pen making or a seasoned veteran of the art, Mark Dreyer and John Underhill’s inspiring session will feature something for you.

Professional pen making starts with attention to the details. In this demonstration, Mark Dreyer will offer a complete overview of pen making and basic penturning. From blank and component set selection and preparation, to drilling, and gluing, he will provide details and tips that will help you make the perfect pen.

Resin casting can allow you to differentiate your pens from every other pen maker by using things like label casts, embedded objects, color casts, and more.  In this session, John Underhill will walk you through everything from beginning to end from setting up a casting area to handling the resin and casting your own blanks. John will give you insights about the various resins on the market and help you select the best one for the job. He will also show you the tools, molds, and supplies he uses to achieve successful casts and how they can be used to alter your results.
