AAW'S 34th Annual International Symposium

COVID-19 and the 2020 AAW Symposium

Due to the seriousness of COVID-19, and adhering to international, federal, and state advisories and legal impossibility mandates, the AAW Board of Directors unanimously approved the cancellation of the 2020 AAW Symposium on March 30, 2020.

Complete details about the cancellation, including process for full registration refunds and future plans, will be provided very soon. As we continue to address the impacts of this challenging situation, we thank you for your patience, understanding, flexibility, and support. Information for Trade Show Exhibitors

Exhibitor / Vendor Webinar – March 25, 2020

Our Symposium

This year’s Symposium is projected to be attended by over 2,000 attendees, invited guests, and public admissions. The annual AAW International Symposium is an intensely informative, fun-filled event held in a different region of the country each year. Three days are packed with demonstrations by internationally renowned and local woodturners, art galleries and design workshops, as well as professional panel discussions on marketing, technical and aesthetic development, safety and legal topics. The AAW trade show will be the largest assemblage of woodturning exhibitors anywhere in the world and will be a central feature of the event; admission is free and open to all. Through our market research, the trade show closely follows the educational woodturning break-out sessions as the next-most important factor driving symposium attendance. Over 90% of registered attendees have reported making a trade show purchase. The symposium also includes tours of local destinations, three evenings of programmed social activities, and multiple auctions of donated member art, tools and supplies. Through local and regional promotions, the AAW’s marketing efforts will extend our reach to attract attendance at all of our free attractions including the Trade Show, by individuals who are not registered attendees but who do have interest in woodworking and arts and crafts.

Review by May 1, 2020

Each year AAW stresses the importance of safety and safe practices during the event. Cooperation from our exhibitors has been has been stellar in our quest to reinforce the essential place for safety awareness, especially when recognizing the AAW Symposium is the world's largest education-oriented woodturning symposium. Safety stipulations can be found in your exhibitor contract. For your convenience, click below to access the safety-related terms and conditions in your contract.

Exhibitor Kit

Information available: April 1, 2020

The Exhibitor Services Kit includes details for ordering electricity and other booth amenities. As in previous years, dock services including move-in and move-out forklift and labor are provided to you as part of your contract with AAW.  The exception to this will be if you individually arrange for any advance shipments of items directly to the Fern warehouse instead of the convention center loading dock during our move-in period.

Trade Show Insurance

Due: April, 1, 2020

As in the past, as a standard requirement in the AAW contract with all symposium exhibitors, it is necessary for you to provide proof of general liability coverage from an insurance company in good standing with minimum policy limits of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 in aggregate.  The AAW has again put together an affordable plan if you require a temporary general liability insurance policy for the duration of the AAW Symposium in Louisville.  The link below leads to a complete and short, online questionnaire. This will facilitate purchasing this coverage over the duration of the symposium for $65.00.

Proof of alternative coverage, satisfying these minimums, or secured coverage through the link provided above must be in place prior to your scheduled move-in date.  You will not be allowed to move-in/exhibit without proper insurance coverage in place.  The insurance carrier will provide support with questions, either by calling 781-994-6017 or by emailing questions service@totaleventinsurance.com.

AAW Symposium App

Due:  April 1, 2020

For the Sixth year, all attendees will have the ability to download the AAW Symposium App. Well over half of all attendees in each of the previous years reported downloading and using the App. Here I would like to give special mention to AAW member and volunteer Camille Wall. Camille is our AAW App "Czar." She donates countless hours of her time to develop and keep the App current each year. The trend in the number of people relying upon the App to improve their experience is growing. And the App is a service also made available to all AAW members. All exhibitors have the opportunity to extend your reach by submitting promotional information up to 500 words. This is offered at no charge, and provides you with the opportunity to promote your company and include any incentive or specific details you may want to get out to people. If you would like to have us include any information in the App, please submit it by April 30 using the form at the bottom of the page
