Lot # 126 - View 3
Paul Fennell - "Fissures", Bubinga turned hollow form and carved. 5.5" tall x 5" diameter. "This piece is part of a current body of work, based on a departure from the overly-regular, evenly-spaced, mechanical-looking and predictable. Visually, the concept is derived from the fact that in the real world objects may appear to have similar characteristics, but there are also natural variations. Moreover, with respect to tactile characteristics, it did not occur to me until recently that the idea of sharp edges could be an important accompanying design element. Combining these two concepts results in work that is visually pleasing, but also delightful to hold."
