Dial in here to view photo highlights from the 2006 Youth Program in Louisville, KY . The Youth turning rotation schedule has been finalized... Thursday 22 June: Friday 23 June: Saturday 24 June At the 2006 symposium, June 22-24 in Louisville, Kentucky, all attending youths (ages 10 through 17) will receive free registration ($75 value) when accompanied by a registered adult. As an incentive to register and bring your son, daughter, niece, nephew, grandchild, or the kid down the block, a Friday “kids-only” drawing will award 25 complete turning outfits to our Youth Program participants...25 JET Midi lathes with stands, 25 sets of Crown tools, 25 Nova Midi-chucks and 25 face shields. Wait, there’s more great news. During the three-day symposium, all of the donated equipment will be used in a hands-on rotation room. Bonnie Klein and Nick Cook have agreed to conduct hands-on workshops for the youth. We’re searching for an AAW chapter or volunteers to furnish 10 assistants to help Bonnie teach the workshops. The youth drawing will be at the Friday banquet, which will also be free to registered youths. The 25 turning outfit winners will be responsible for shipping the equipment back home. Think of the tremendous impact on creative young minds when they see the Instant Gallery, watch world-class demonstrators, and visit the trade show. This is your opportunity to change a life and help create a new woodturner. As we expect to have more youth registrations than lathes, and to make it as fair as possible for all, we will be conducting a "lottery" for hands-on area turning classes, with an appropriate number of class rotations so that all youth who wish to participate in the hands-on activities can do so. To facilitate the lottery, we ask that your registration be submitted no later than May 15.
