Come join us in sunny California!

The 2003 Seventeenth Annual AAW National Symposium is open to anyone with an interest in woodturning. With nearly 1,000 attendees at last year's 2002 Symposium, this makes the AAW Symposium the world's largest woodturning event of the year! There are four ways to register:

  • Register by phone at the AAW office: 651-484-9094

 Demonstrations

Friday morning will start with opening remarks at 8:00 a.m., followed by demonstrations given on a rotational basis for three days by international, national, regional, and local talent. Demonstrations end at 3:15 p.m. Sunday.

2003 Exhibition pictures from "Put A Lid On It"

This wonderful tradition of past symposiums is open to all attendees. Please bring up to three of your own turned creations to share with others. The gallery will be open to the public and the community, as well as to the symposium participants displaying more than 900 pieces.

 Bulletin Board and Photo Wall

A bulletin board is available for people to post messages. Also a photo wall-anyone is welcome to bring pictures of interesting or humorous lathes, jigs, tips, or turnings. Also, bring copies of your chapter newsletter to share.

 Included Special Symposium Events
  • Annual Banquet and Auction. Raised over $32,000 for the educational fund last year.
  • Chapter Collaborative Challenge
  • Return to the Community Project: An important part of each AAW Symposium is our "Return to the Community" program which benefits a worthy charity in the city that host's our annual meeting. This year the topic is balls-any size, any purpose-from games to massage rollers, hanging curtains to wheels for funky vehicles, decorative objects, spheres, globes, anything. Let your imagination roll away with you. A local charity will benefit from the efforts of the AAW members, most likely a group helping children. If you decide that balls aren't your thing, then make a top or three, a wooden toy, anything that would make a good item for a fund-raiser. Please consider donating one or more items to help someone less fortunate. If you are unable to attend the symposium and would like to donate an object, please send it to the national office by June 17th -
