Title: Douglas Fir Vessel 2011
Price: $900.00
Dimensions: 6 inches high by 6 7/8 wide
Materials: Douglar fir, pigment
Other info: This is a recent lathe turned and sandblasted piece. Douglar fir with a dark pigment glazed wiped on to enhance the constrasting textures and patterns.
Much of my current studio time is spent on more sculptural work (with the output many months away yet), so this is a chance to acquire a small yet strong turned Douglas fir piece.
One view shows the strong natural edge rim of the piece, while the lower angle displays the power of the profile. When I measured this piece I was surprised at the actual size, as it commands the space of a larger piece.
This piece will best be displayed at a mininum of waist height to show the strong profile.
Note, this piece is not round bottomed, but has a small base. I was going for a strong vertical implication in the piece, and that requires a base to anchor it visually as the piece lifts upward.
