Other info: This piece is from the "foot"of a Red Oak tree...where the trunk spreads out to stand on the ground. This is a thin end-grain turning that chose to warp in several amazing ways to form an object very similar to an exotic seashell. As a turner, I controlled the thickness and general shape, but depend on a bit of luck to achieve this result.
