General Liability Insurance - Chapters & Members

The AAW offers general liability insurance to its chapters and members. All policy options in place in 2015 will remain available for AAW chapters through 2016 without any interruption in coverage.  As a direct benefit of AAW membership, each member receives up to $1M in insurance per incident when performing services for officially sanctioned business of the AAW and/or for our affiliated chapters. Separate from the AAW member insurance, the general liability insurance options available for our chapters include:

  • A "group plan" general liability policy that insures chapters as an organizational entity and insures non-AAW chapter volunteers.  Chapters contribute $95 toward the AAW premium. Apply using the form at the bottom of this page.
  • A separate "private plan" general liability policy for chapters that that insures chapters as an organizational entity and insures non-AAW chapter volunteers. Premium costs will vary by state but are approximately $425/chapter (plus additional tax in certain states).  Premiums and coverage can be confirmed by contacting our affiliated agent directly.

Optional Chapter Insurance Policies

Professional Business Insurance

If your chapter requires insurance for your buildings or if you require business liability coverage, the AAW sponsors a very good policy that many of our full-time professionals have had for several years. It is very affordable and could be purchased by the chapters. Inquire.
 

Directors and Officers Liability Insurance (D&O)

If you are an officer or director of your AAW chapter, as an additional benefit, the AAW also has arranged for your chapter to be able to purchase affordable insurance to protect all of the chapter officers, directors, and their spouses from claims brought against you for your actions or omissions while you are acting in your official capacity as officers of your chapters. The cost of premiums for this range from $500 to $800, depending on how much liability coverage you desire (from $500,000 to $1,000,000). To apply for the D&O policy, complete and submit the AAW Chapter Officer and Director Liability Insurance Application to the address listed on the bottom of the application.
 

AAW "Group Plan" Insurance Policy - Chapter Opt-In Confirmation

The AAW maintains a commercial general liability insurance policy that insures AAW members and also is available to insure AAW-approved chapters as entities. Any chapter that has at least four AAW members as major officers and contributes $95 annually toward the premium cost may participate in this "Group Plan." By indicating below, this form will serve as confirmation of your chapter’s intention to "opt in” and participate in this policy coverage. The current four major officers of any AAW-affiliated chapter - President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer (or their equivalents, if under a different title) - must be members in good standing of the AAW for the chapter to maintain its AAW chapter status.
