March 1, 2018

Hello Chapter Officer:

The AAW appreciates your participation as a chapter officer, as well as your partnership and collaboration to share, support, and deliver a shared educational mission to those interested in turning wood. The purpose of this email is to keep you up-to-date about important chapter-AAW initiatives and offer you useful woodturning content that can be shared with your members.
We encourage you to share this information as appropriate with your chapter members at chapter meetings, on your website, in your newsletter, and on social media.

We encourage you to share in your chapter newsletter an article, "Woodworm Screws," by Mike Peace, from the August 2013 issue of American Woodturner.

"Good technique takes time. In teaching woodturners, both young and old, I have found that - like me learning the trumpet - beginning woodturners are often impatient and unrealistic. They expect to create beautiful work without spending time developing the fundamentals. In woodturning, it is impossible to create functional and even beautiful objects without spending long hours practicing basic skills."
~Kip Christensen

Kip will be a demonstrator at the AAW Symposium in Portland, June 14-17, 2018. See his demonstration on spindle turning and hear his perspective on the value of practicing foundational skills. Join us and register today.
