If there were a way for you to make a gift that would continue to give every year, for ever, would you be interested in learning about it? The AAW Memorial Endowment is a trust fund created by the AAW Board of Directors in the fall of 2007. The purpose of this memorial endowment is to receive gifts that will be broadly invested in a very diversified portfolio so that the gifts will produce income for the purpose of supporting woodturning education on a perpetual basis forever. The Memorial Endowment fund is managed by three trustees, appointed by the AAW Board of Directors.
The investment portfolio is designed and managed to generate sufficient income to allow the fund to grow, keep up with inflation and make 5% available each year to provide woodturning education. The larger that the endowment becomes, the more money that will be available for educational grants. Donations to the AAW Memorial Endowment are fully tax deductible.
In 2008, the AAW Memorial Endowment issued a grant of $4,000 to the Lynwood high school to help them create a woodturning program. This grant allowed the school to purchase mini lathes, tools, and train the teacher to be better equipped to teach the students. This program will offer woodturning education to students for many years to come. This is an example of what your gift will be able to provide every year, forever.
If you would like to have your gift provide education benefits forever, and if you believe in the AAW’s mission of providing woodturning education, you can give now or put a bequest in your will. Visit this link for more information on making a bequest to the AAW in your will. Under all conditions, discuss this with your family and let them know that this is your wish.
