The AAW would like to thank Bob Rosand for judging this contest. About the contest, Bob says "...I don't think that there was a clock that I didn't like. Of course some I appreciated more than others, but they were all interesting in their own way. For me, it's always fun to throw an idea out there and see where others take it. ALL the participants did a great job."

If you would like to consider entering the next contest, watch for announcements in the AAW forums.

Bernie's winning contest entry :

The inspiration for this came from an Arendal Mantle clock. Black walnut was turned, a portion was cut off for clock face insertion and pendulum detail.

Clock cavity was drilled out with forstner bit. The pendulum area cavity was routed out and ebonized with no finish (to create illusion of depth).

Pendulum and rod are maple with a hint of acrylic gold finish. The walnut is finished with several coats of tung oil. Size is 3" dia. X 9" tall.
