  Comtemporary Woodturners
Growing up on an Iowa farm, I have been working with wood my whole life. After receiving BA and MS Degrees in Industrial Technology, I have spent 26 years teaching woodworking and woodturning at high school and collegiate levels. I recently retired from public education, and am now teaching woodturning through Woodcraft, and at my private studio. I began focusing on artistic woodturning in the mid-90's after doing a workshop with David Ellsworth, and getting involved in the formation and early growth of the Rocky Mountain Woodturners Club. My current work focuses on hollow form turnings with natural voids and defects. I am also continuing David Nittmann's legacy by doing some basketweave pieces, in a combination of his and my styles. I try to accentuate what the timber already possesses, instead of challenging it. It's not nice to mess with Mother Nature!
