General Web Site Access Logs
Web server access logs for www.woodturner.org are kept at our commercial Internet
Service Provider. These logs contain the IP address of your computer or proxy server,
the date and time of the visit, the pages accessed, and other miscellaneous access
information. This information can not be used to personally identify you. The AAW
uses this information to track web site statistics for marketing and maintenance purposes.
This is general industry practice.
Links from AAW: Please be aware that
non-AAW web sites accessed through our site may collect personally identifiable
information about you. The information practices of those third-party web
sites linked to www.woodturner.org are not covered by this privacy statement.
You should note the privacy policy on those individual sites before giving
them access to any personal information.
On-Line Ordering and Form Processing
The AAW online order forms are designed to protect the privacy of your
credit card information, name, address, e-mail and any other information
you provide us. We are committed to data security with
respect to information collected on our site. We offer the industry
standard security measures available through your browser called SSL
encryption. You may always contact the AAW office if you feel uncomfortable with on-line commerce.
Information regarding you (such as name, address and phone number), your order and the products you purchase will not be given or
sold to any outside organization for use in marketing or
solicitation purposes without your consent. Please read the mail list policy
in the current annual AAW Resource Directory for more information
about this policy.
Your information may be shared with agents or contractors of the
AAW for the purpose of performing services for our organization. If
this is the case, the agents or contractors will be bound by AAW
policy. For example, the printer of American Woodturner may not
use mailing labels information for any purpose other than to mail Journals to our members.
We request information from you when you:
- Submit a membership application
- Renew your membership
- Join the AAW Forum
- Order AAW products
- Post items for sale though our online sales venues
- Become a Local Chapter officer
- Respond to annual symposium calls for demonstrators
- Respond to annual exhibit calls for artists entry
- Provide feedback to an online survey
AAW Chapter Information
The AAW web site provides data about local chapter organizations, in particular, contact information. This information may include name, address,
telephone numbers, email and other information relating to a local chapter's designated point-of-contact.
This information is available through the public web site for all to see. Any
chapter official who wants this information deleted from the web site should
contact the AAW office.
Cookies
The AAW does not currently use cookie technology on our public web site with two exceptions.
- Cookies may be used on some private parts of the site which are not available to the general public.
- The AAW uses cookies for registered users of the AAW Forums bulletin board when logged
in. Virtually ALL bulletin boards use cookie technology to identify posters.
Future Development
The AAW reserves the right to use password control over some parts of
our web site in the future development of web site content. If we do,
the user will be solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of
passwords and any other account information. Users should be careful and
responsible whenever they are online. Posting personal information
online that is accessible to the public may mean that you will
receive unsolicited messages from other parties in return. While we
strive to protect your personal information, the AAW cannot ensure
or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and
you do so at your own risk.
The AAW reserves the right to modify these policies as needed due to
changes in the use or status of our on-line projects. Changes to the
policies will be noted at this URL and/or in our journal "American
Woodturner".
